Some companies encourage wearing shorts to work as heat wave continues

As South Korea endures extreme heat, companies and public institutions are adopting lighter dress codes to help improve work efficiency and reduce air conditioning.

One among them is the state-owned Korea Electrical Safety Corp., which is continuing its “shorts-at-work” campaign through September.

Major firms like Samsung, LG, SK, Hyundai Motor and Hanwha have also relaxed dress codes, while HD Hyundai Heavy Industries made headlines in June by allowing employees to wear shorts and sandals while commuting for the first time since its founding in 1972.
